Due to exceptionally low registration numbers, the Vermont Senior Games has made the decision to cancel the track and field meet scheduled for June 9, 2019 at Burlington High School. Fewer than 20 athletes have registered at this time, and we did not believe that a quality event could be staged under these circumstances.
We at the VSG heard a variety of concerns expressed from past athletes, from the Sunday date being problematic to the meet being either too early in June, or too close to Nationals. VSG was hoping that the earlier date would allow athletes to use the meet to prepare for Nationals, but apparently most chose to pursue alternative training schedules.
The good news is that VSG will be offering athletes another track and field meet opportunity. We are pleased to announce that that VSG will be partnering in the “Sprinticity Classic” event on Saturday July 13, 2019. This will be an open event staged at Burlington High School. Sprinticity is in the process of re-adjusting the meet to accommodate VSG, which includes changing the times of the events since the meet starts at 2 pm. Thus, registration for athletes who have not previously registered is temporarily closed for the track and field event and will re-open very soon.
- All athletes who have already registered for the June 9 meet will be personally notified by a VSG representative in the next couple of days.
- Any athletes who would like to compete in the Spriticity event on July 13th and have already registered for the VSG event DO NOT need to re-register again. We will roll your information over into the new meet.
- Any athletes who registered for the June 9 meet who DO NOT wish to compete on July 13 will receive a full refund of their registration fee.
Thank you for your support and understanding.
