VSG Runners –
Registration is now open for the Northfield Race, the Vermont Senior Games 5K event. It’s the 42nd annual race to kick off Labor Day weekend. The race will be held on Saturday September 4th in downtown Northfield, Vermont.
Long-time racers will appreciate the fact that the organizers have flipped the kids’ race and the headline event, with the 5K now starting at 9:30 am and the one-mile children’s run at 10:30. Many were the years that I watched the fog lift and the temperatures climb as I waited for the kids to finish! The course begins with a moderate uphill, but the rest of the course is flat and fast, and features a lot of spectator involvement to cheer on the racers.
The $25 entry fee includes a t-shirt from NSB.
The registration form is new this year, so note that if you want to be co-registered with the Vermont Senior Games you need to click on the little drop-down menu to say “yes!” This is located right below the tee-shirt size choice option.
2021 State Events are now qualifiers for the 2022 National Senior Games in Florida. And, the NSGA has altered the qualifying criteria for 2022: all athletes who compete in a 5K / 10K road race at a NSGA Qualifying State Games will qualify for the 2022 National Senior Games.
So, for those who are interested, if you run the Northfield race, you qualify for the National Senior Games in both the 5K and the 10K!
