2020 Swim Meet Details

The 2020 Vermont Senior Games Swimming Championships will be held on Saturday April 4, 2020 in partnership with the 6th Annual EDGE Masters Swim Team April Fools Meet. This meet will be held at The EDGE Sports & Fitness on 115 Wellness Drive, Williston, Vermont 05495. The pool at the EDGE is a 6-lane, 25-yard pool. There is also a smaller, warm pool available for warm-up / cool-down during the day.

The events include the 50-yard, 100-yard, 200-yard and 500-yard Freestyle; 50-yard and 100-yard Backstroke, Breaststroke, and Butterfly; 100-yard and 200-yard Individual Medley; and the option to swim a 200-yard Backstroke, Breaststroke, or Butterfly race. Swimmers can also choose to participate in a fun, multi-aged 200-yard Freestyle relay event. Athletes are eligible to swim in a maximum of five events, not counting the relay.

Anyone who is at least 50-years old by December 31, 2020 can compete as a Vermont Senior Games athlete. Non-Vermont residents are eligible to participate – Vermont is an “open” state. This is a qualifying event for the 2021 National Senior Games in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

To register athletes must complete the paper registration form available via the link below. Upon completion, please mail the form, along with payment, to Emily Mitchell, c/o The EDGE, 115 Wellness Drive, Williston, VT 05495.

The Registration fee is $35 for up to five individual events if received by April 2, 2020.

Entries received after April 2, and race-day registrations, will be $45 and limited to three individual events.

This meet will be conducted in accordance with the United States Masters Swimming rules. If you are interested in learning more about USMS rules regarding swim strokes, starts, and turns, you should plan on attending a free clinic being offered by the Edge swim staff on Saturday March 21, 2020 from 8:30 – 9:30 am. The clinic will feature in-water demonstrations of each stroke, which should be especially valuable to swimmers who have not competed in a sanctioned meet before.  Although there is no charge for the clinic, the Edge asks athletes to pre-register by contacting Emily Mitchell by Thursday March 19 using the contact information below.
