Sixteen players ranging in age from 50 to 87 and hailing from NY and NH as well as VT came together for a full day of competitive table tennis. Many thanks to Sport Co-Coordinators Bruce Kline and John Bolton who worked with a challenging array of ages for the Doubles competition. There were some amazing matches between what the group dubbed “the young bucks vs the veterans.”
The oldest player, Stig Albertson from Dorset, has been playing table tennis since he was eight years old in his native Sweden. In the final Doubles Match, the combined ages of the four players equaled 249! Jack Devine, 73, of Ferrisburgh, emerged undefeated in the Singles competition and logged over 14 thousand “steps” on his FitBit during the Tournament. Who says table tennis isn’t a physically demanding game? You can see more pictures from the Tournament on the VSGA Facebook page.
VSGA congratulates all these athletes and the hundreds of others who joined us throughout the season. Stay tuned for news about next year’s events – which will be qualifying for the 2019 National Senior Games to be held in Albuquerque, NM!Results
